Have you doot’ed your wife?

Yesterday I was introduced to a new mobile app that is about to launch on Apple IOS devices (iphone, ipad, ietc) and shortly thereafter to Android devices. I am intrigued by the premise of this particular application, because I can totally see it getting married men “lucky”, with very little effort. In fact, the first thing you see on their website (www.dootme.com) is a hint.

Dootme.com home pageThe application is called Doot, and the basic premise is that you can leave “doots” all over town for specific people or the general populous. I can see this being a great way to get un-biased reviews of stores, restaurants,  dentists, etc. But again, that is not my focus here…with a little bit of effort on your down time, you can make your wife’s day (repeatedly if you plan it right…) which is something that can only benefit you later, in as many ways as you can think of.

Here is the Doot Product Overview video which has tons of good ideas…

Let’s take this as an example.

You just realized you have 45 minutes to kill and you are just down the street from your wife’s favorite Starbucks/Pete’s/Bagel Shop/Burger King. Swing by there and “drop her a Doot” (that even SOUNDS fun!!). Just a note saying you were thinking about her. Next time she stops by said favorite establishment, she will get the note and know that you “went out of your way while thinking about her.” That is awesome. When your wife knows you have gone out of your way to do something nice for her, it is almost never a bad thing…

So here is another example…

Plan a scavenger hunt for your wife and children. Run around town and “Doot” some clues leading your family to a fun event (picnic in the park perhaps?) It is fun for your family and gives you a couple of hours to relax on a blanket in the park while they run around town trying to figure out where the hell you ran off to!

There are a TON of other examples, and I certainly don’t have the time to explain them all, so use your imagination, Doot your wife, and tell us all about it in the comments!!

I remember when this was called “a text message”.  But OK.

    Sounds fun. I’ll download it.

I would never Doot – people don’t need to know when I’m in a parking garage!  : )

Doot is very different from a text message. These messages are tied to a location and show up when you are there. It makes receiving that message at that location more fun and adds an element of surprise.
